Global News Canada is reporting that “Spotlight” wrapped up filming. MEW previously reported the production would wrap up filming on Friday, November 21st. The movie began filming in Boston in September before heading to Toronto. The cast and crew also filmed for a few days in Hamilton according to local reports. The movie mainly filmed in the Showline studios in Toronto but also filmed on location including at the University of Toronto and Boston Globe offices.
Spotlight, with an all-star cast including Rachel McAdams, Stanley Tucci, Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Live Schreiber and Billy Crudup, wraps production in the city this week.
Screen Daily reported earlier this month that the movie was part of eOne International’s slate at the AFM market to find (international) buyers. Rachel stars alongside Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Stanley Tucci, Liev Schreiber, Billy Crudup, John Slattery, and many more. The movie is expected to be released in 2015. We have added some additional on set images in our gallery shared by Sacha Pfeiffer via her official twitter account.
The news of Rachel being “frontrunner” for the female lead in “True Detective” was first reported back in September. The most recent report came from Variety who reported Rachel was close to locking down a lead role. If you follow our twitter account you have noticed we have reported an re-tweeted the latest rumors on the casting and series these last few weeks.
HBO has only confirmed Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn casting so far, because it’s such an anticipated project many more rumors have been circling around. We will try to round them up in this post. We also recommend heading over to Indiewire who compiled their own round-up post.
Taylor Kitsch, who will reportedly play one of the detectives, confirmed to AdWeek himself that he is part of the second season of the series. HBO still hasn’t confirm his casting. The Wrap reported a few weeks ago that Michael Irby, Kelly Reilly, Abigail Spencer and Leven Rambin joined the cast in supporting and recurring roles. Irby will play Elvis Ilinca, Rachel’s character’s partner at the police department. Deadline reported the first table read was held on October 31, and Rachel was spotted in LA the same day.
Deadline has reported several recurring cast additions this last week. They are reporting that Lolita Davidovich, James Frain, Adria Arjona, Michael Hyatt, Yara Martinez, Christian Campbell, and Riley Smith joined the casting in recurring roles. You can click on their names to read the original reports. Smith will play Rachel’s character’s boyfriend Steve Mercier, who is a “a boyish Sheriff’s deputy”.
Today is a very special day because Rachel is celebrating her 36th birthday! We would like to wish Rachel a Happy Birthday on behalf of the site and her fans around the world. We hope she has a wonderful day – most likely on the set of “Spotlight” – with family and friends.
We wanted to do something special to celebrate so we launched a brand new layout as you can see. It’s designed by Ray from Oh My Mornings, who also did our previous look. We also have matching themes for our gallery and video archives. Let us know what you think about it in the comments and if you find any errors!
We have another very exciting surprise coming up later today, so be sure to check back to find out what it is.
We have added the digital magazine scans of Entertainment Weekly’s Reunion issue in our gallery which features Rachel alongside her “Mean Girls” co-stars. Many thanks to our friends Luciana and Ali for their donations! The magazine is on newsstands right now, so be sure to pick up your (digital) issue right now!
Update: We have replaced the scans with better quality, thanks to my friend Claudia for donating the scans.
Entertainment Weekly featured the “Mean Girls” cast in their annual reunion issue which will hit newsstands this friday. Rachel is featured in the cast photoshoot and interview alongside Tina Fey, Amanda Seyfried, Lacey Chabert, and Lindsay Lohan. We have added the photoshoot outtakes in our gallery and the interview in our press archive. We will add the magazine scans as soon as possible.
If you happened to be anywhere near the Internet on Oct. 3, you probably noticed an outpouring of nostalgia for 2004’s Mean Girls. The reason? A throwaway line uttered by Lindsay Lohan’s Cady: “It’s October 3rd.”
That may seem a pretty slim thread to hang an entire day on, but it’s indicative of the fervent fan base for this new-classic teen comedy. Written by Tina Fey and directed by Mark Waters (Vampire Academy), Mean Girls stars Lohan as a high school student at a new school who infiltrates the Plastics, a group of nasty popular girls led by queen bee Regina (Rachel McAdams) and her underlings: insecure Gretchen (Lacey Chabert) and dumb-as-a-stump Karen (Amanda Seyfried). The film became a surprise sleeper hit, earning $129 million worldwide and gaining an even bigger following on DVD. In the decade since, Mean Girls has joined Clueless and Sixteen Candles in the teen-comedy canon.

|Rachel McAdams – The Revamp
What is going on with Rachel McAdams? Once upon a time, she seemed destined to rule Hollywood; now, she’s taking third leads. In next summer’s untitled Cameron Crowe romantic comedy, she’s billed below Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone, just as she was the secondary love interest in Midnight in Paris and To the Wonder. She’ll always have high likability and tabloid scores thanks to classics like The Notebook and Mean Girls, but girl needs some better representation pronto. Let’s hope her recent casting on the second season of True Detective can give her the same oomph it helped give Matthew McConaughey.
